'Rockman' Graham Woollard was one of a panel of local experts who took part in a Billericay school science event. The local geologist was joined by St John Ambulance crews and staff from the Hyde Hall Royal Horticultural Society in the Buttsbury Junior School science week. The year six pupils learnt about rock formations, seed dispersal and electricity among other key topics in the fifth annual event. Head of year six and school science coordinator Claire Jacobs said "Science really opens pupils' eyes to everyday practical situations. The children really loved the chance to be very practical and meet people they would not normally meet.

Dear Graham.
I would like to thank you very much for a fantastic day yesterday. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and have produced some fabulous follow up work.
On a personal note - I was talking to my daughter, who is now 19 and studying Theoretical Physics at University, about your visit to her school when she was in year 5, She said that it was ‘Awesome and the first week I really remember understanding the molecular make up of solids, liquids and gasses’ it clearly stayed with her!
Wishing you the very best - I will certainly pass your name around to other schools in recommendation - hopefully we will be able to hold a KS1 session in the Summer term.

As Always, it was great to see you and your activity day gets better every year. Many thanks for coming in and sharing your knowledge with the children. They always learn so much from  it.
